RE+ Cono Sur will arrive for the first time in Santiago de Chile on March 25 and 26, 2026, positioning itself as one of the most strategic gatherings for the deployment of clean energy in the region. In this context, H2NEWS —the official Media Partner— spoke with Danielle Danko, Vice President of Marketing at RE+ Events, to explore the vision driving this new platform and the reasons that position Chile as a natural host for a global conversation on innovation, investment and the energy transition.

In this interview, Danko reflects on the role RE+ Cono Sur aims to play at a decisive moment for Latin America, where the urgency to accelerate renewable energy adoption intersects with unprecedented opportunities to attract capital, boost technology and strengthen international cooperation. Her answers offer a strategic view on market evolution, expectations for the sector and the impact this event seeks to generate in the region.

What is RE?

RE+ Events is a global event and association management organization specializing in the clean energy industry. Its flagship event, RE+, is the largest renewable energy gathering in North America. The RE+ Events portfolio also includes events around the world that bring together sector leaders to meet energy demand in global markets. RE+ Cono Sur is a new event and a powerful catalyst for sustainable change, bringing together visionaries and leaders who are actively building the future of clean energy across the Southern Cone region.

Why the decision to hold the event in Chile?

RE+ Events’ decision to host an event in Chile reflects the country’s unique role as a driver of renewable energy deployment and innovation. The Chilean government is committed to expanding energy storage systems and hybrid installations, generating strong demand for investment, innovation and strategic partnerships. Today, 57% of the country’s electricity comes from renewable sources, and Chile has committed to closing more than two-thirds of its coal-fired power plants by 2025 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

What economic vision do you see for Latin America in relation to renewables?

The Southern Cone region (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and, in many cases, Paraguay) is already recognized as a leader in renewable energy adoption and has the resources to become a relevant player in the global clean energy industry. The objective is to build a bridge between Latin America and the international energy ecosystem. RE+ Cono Sur will take on a strategic role, bringing together more than 60 companies and global leaders who will participate not only to showcase technologies, but to build alliances, remove regulatory barriers and, ultimately, mobilize the investment required. This event will serve as a global showcase and a concrete platform for connecting governments, companies and financial institutions.
