Felipe Andrés Silva Alvarado, a Renewable Energy Technician and Energy Engineering student at INACAP Punta Arenas, has been selected to join the prestigious Hydrogen Rising Stars program at the upcoming World Hydrogen Week 2025, the world’s leading hydrogen event taking place October 6–10 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This year, the event will feature H2NEWS as an official Media Partner, ensuring broad international coverage of Chile’s presence at this global forum.

The program recognizes emerging students and professionals from across the globe who are contributing to the advancement of hydrogen and clean energy, offering them international visibility and the opportunity to engage in high-level discussions and networking.

During the event, the Chilean participant will highlight the country’s hydrogen initiatives, with a special focus on the opportunities and challenges of the Magallanes region, while also representing INACAP, showcasing how the institution is training future professionals in renewable energy and hydrogen.

“My goal is to strengthen my knowledge and build international networks that can lead to future collaborations, contributing from Magallanes and Chile to the global development of green hydrogen and renewable energy,” he stated. The student is currently in his sixth semester of an Energy Engineering degree at INACAP Punta Arenas and has actively participated in industry events such as Hyvolution Chile.

The selection process required proof of active involvement in the hydrogen field and a motivation letter. His acceptance was confirmed in May 2025, along with the news that all expenses to attend the event would be fully covered.

In addition to attending all sessions of World Hydrogen Week, he has also been invited by Mario Marchese to visit the offices of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), one of the world’s leading renewable energy investment funds.

His international experience will further expand in the summer of 2026, when he undertakes a three-month internship with HIF Global in Montevideo, Uruguay, linked to the Paysandú project, providing hands-on exposure to the e-fuels and hydrogen value chain.

“This achievement shows that despite the distance and the conditions of our southernmost territory, it is possible to join world-class platforms and inspire other students to believe in their capabilities,” he emphasized.
